Projects

I have a lot that I'm working on. I'm scanning Lewis's grandmother's cookbook into the computer and typing out the recipes. I'm redoing my mother's photo albums from when me and Megan and Brian were small, as they are not acid friendly, and soon the pictures will fade. Also, I believe whole heartedly in digital records ... as I live with a man who sells storage for a living, and thinks that everyone should save everything on their computers ... forever.

I just read that part to him ... complete with the pause after computers. And he finished it with "forever." Do I know my man or what? :)

Anyway ... I'm also working on scanning and organizing mother's pictures from when we were all bigger - from about 93 to present - so that they are in a presentable format. And I have to make some sort of something (I change my mind on it every day) for Dad for his retirement. Which no, is not pending immediately. But I find it is always better to think about these things far in advance.

I'm also going to scrapbook Megan's pictures from Spain for her - if she doesn't want to do it herself. So you see ... I have a lot I have to do. The good thing is ... I'm very good at it. :) I know ... I'm so vein. But I sit at the computer all the time and it really is no trouble for me to scan things in. And the printing of the pictures for the scrapbooking may get problematic ... but that's what they invented Wal-Mart for.

But ... the real project. The big on that is so, soo, sooo cool ... is Mavvy's Dog House!

We took this piece of wood, pictured at left, and cut it into several pieces. Now I printed off directions from Lowes.com (and got the materials at HomeDepot, go figure) and we used their measurements for a "medium sized" dog. Which we feel fits Mavvy pretty well.

And - thanks to the generosit of my superior in-laws - we had a handy dandy saw that cut this piece of wood nicely.

And turned it into this:

:) We're going to sand down the edges so she doesn't hurt her poor little self ... and we already cut a hole out of the front, so don't worry about that. And then we bought shingles for the roof, and red wood stain for the wood itself.

This way, she can stay out side for longer periods of time, as she'll have a shelter in the rain or if it's too hot.

It's going to be perfect! And I bought a water hose and a water cart to wind up the hose. Which is also perfect. I never thought I'd get excited about such a thing. Crazy home ownership.

But, back to projects. I already have one of mom's albums scanned in. They were in polaroids, so I did four to a scan, and will print them out and cut them to put them in a new scrapbook for mom. There are a bunch of Kenda at three and a really, really cute one of her with Carolyn and Dennis.

As Amber said upon seeing my house, "I forget how into pictures you are."

:)
