H is a great Letter
This morning my mother told me she was swinging by Barnes and Noble to find out when they were handing out wrist bands / tickets* to get in line for the book release party. They told her 4 O'Clock! I could not believe it! I immediately called my own B&N only to realize ... they aren't open at 8:30. So I called again at 9.
And do you know what they told me? They started handing those tickets out at 9:00 AM!
Immediately panicked, thinking my plan of going to B&N after work (approximately 6:00) and waiting till 8:00 (when I initially thought they handed them out) was disasterous and that I would surely be the very last person in the entire world if not the universe to recieve her Harry Potter book ... I formulated a new plan.
Involving leaving work as soon as my 9:00 AM meeting was over and rushing the 2 miles up the road to the B&N and picking up my ticket.
When I arrived ... there was a line around the tables. As I had left work quickly in the hopes of returning quickly ... this was a major blow. Upon closer inspection however, the alphabet had been divided into three parts. And the lower two parts of the alphabet were long line clogged. The upper third - the A's through H's - was empty. No line! You see it was meant to be! Now, even with my maiden name I would have fit into this category ... but had my lovely and honored current name been on the second line ... well I might still be at B&N. The H's barely made the first cut!
And then I might not be in the very first group to get their Harry Potter!
I'm excited ... I'm so very childlike in my excitement too. I can not contain it. I tell everyone ... even though adults look at you like you are crazy. I can not believe that JKR is a billionaire because people are stoic ... she is a billionaire because people are so thrilled, enraptured and enthusiastic about her novels and her characters. So I know - know - that I am not alone.
And even if the whole office thinks I'm nuts -- I at least know that Meryl's with me!
*For those that are new to HP midnight madness parties ... the tickets / wrist bands are like your place in line. You go and get your ticket and they call your group and you stand in line for your book in waves. Kind of like how Southwest does their seating. Group 1 - come to the front now. Group 2, and so on and so on. So you see, if I had not gotten a ticket for group 1 ... I would have had to wait even longer to get my book! Last time I did this there were 6 groups! And we couldn't have me waiting for the 6th group now ... could we?

I knew it would be better if I just called in sick today!
