Saving Eggs
This article here, pointed to by Drudge, talks about how scientists are developing ways for women to keep their eggs longer, and therefore stave off menopause. I applaud scientific discoveries that lead to advances in medicine and medical care.
But some things just don't make much sense.
It's like trying to find ways to defy gravity. What goes up, must come down. Women are fertile between the ages of 18 and 35. Anything after that is a gamble. But these are the truths of physics.
It's a physical reason. Children have endless amounts of energy. Just visit my sister-in-law to bear witness. Either one ... I have three (only two of whom have I met their children!) And both have a children in various stages of growth. They run around they make noise they have fun and smile and bring lots of joy.
They require energy to watch and help them grow. Does anyone here really think a woman of 45 has the same energy as a woman of 25?
I don't advocate children at 25. Nor do I discourage it. Too each his own. I'm just saying that before we move forward with encouraging a large population of women to give birth after the age of 40 with the help of pharmaceuticals, perhaps we should look at the physics of the matter. I think they were created that way for a reason.
