Katie Katie bow Batie

Katie Couric. Everyone thinks that you're doing bad in the ratings. Oh wait, they KNOW you're doing bad in the ratings. What they don't know is why. So of course, they are making stuff up.

Ratings raise TV news sexism questions

The only sexist thing is people seeing a woman TV anchor doing badly and thinking "It's 'cause she's a girl."

She's doing poorly because she's DOING POORLY. She isn't very good. She's not credible. She never was. Katie Couric did morning schtick comedy on the Today show. She wore funny costumes and ate food created by master chefs who were trying to teach mom's at home how to make gourmet food their kids will eat.

Sure, occasionally she did a hard hitting interview for 10 minutes. And Ann Curry did the news desk for 10 minutes every hour. But the rest of that hour ... the other 40 minutes, was dedicated solely to book reviews, movie stars, and what the new gadgets are in the toy storys.

That lady isn't meant to talk about the rising death toll in Iraq. And the viewers don't translate. The people that watch the news in the morning aren't really watching the nightly news program. They're making dinner at 6:00pm, they're not watching Katie.

Katie is not doing poorly because she's a woman and there's sexism. I think there's reverse sexism going on in television. Or rather, our beauty obsessed culture is only allowing the ultra beautiful to report anything. Have you seen the ladies sitting behind the news desk at CNN?

Anyway ... I expect Katie will be off the air in a years time. And they'll find someone else to fill her place. But if people keep calling it sexism, when it isn't, the next hire might be brought in based on that false information. And that would be sexist.
