7 Months to Iowa

As a politics / election junkie ... I talk a lot about this stuff here. It's why I have this blog. A space for me to put down my thoughts on the things that nationally and internationally effect our country.

Now, many, many, many times I am more enthusiastic than I am right. I just want ya'll to know that I'm aware of this flaw of mine ... and with every day and every new piece of information processed, I work a little harder to be as even with "right" (as in: correct) as I am with enthusiastic. :) Sometimes I still miss. Oh well.

There are 7 months to Iowa. I can't hardly believe it. New poll numbers from Rasmussen are out, and Fred Thompson (who hasn't even officially thrown his hat in) is in the number 2 spot for the Republicans. Rasmussen is the polling of choice over at Hugh Hewitt and Company. They seem to think they are more reliable than gallop. I think a poll, is a poll, is a poll and they all have problems. I don't think they do much except serve as talking points for the news desk folks. At least, when Paris Hilton isn't going to jail.

The Rep numbers come out on Tuesdays, the Dems on Mondays. The Monday numbers reveal Hillary in a strong lead at 34%, Obama 26%, and Edwards at 15%. This is more of the same for those guys. I guess the Rep numbers have been sliding all over the place due to the immigration debate. Too bad, so sad, for the Senator from Arizona. His time on the floor may be coming to an end.

Having watched tidbits of the Dem Debate the other night, my thougts are these: They are going to lose this election all by themselves.

Why do I say this? Because they are still battling the ghost behind the curtain. They are still putting themselves up against President Bush, who every day becomes increasingly irrelevant, especially to key voters.

"President Bush got us into this war," "President Bush did this to the economy... his tax cuts, his immigration, his social security."

That's great ... and heck maybe it'll even work for them. Maybe the hope is that every bad thing said about President Bush will correlate to a bad thing about Republicans in general and therefore push more people to the other side of the road.

Maybe.

Here's some more interesting Campaign Information:

Senator Barrack Obama's website lists out campaign contributers. One of those is Rev. Jeremiah A Wright Jr. (Obama's pastor) who said "White America got it's wake up call on 9/11." For full quote see Newsbusters. There are others of similar thought and mind on there. And as this article from the Boston Globe (but reprinted in International Herald Tribune) says ... he'll be called in to defend these people in the later days. I stand by my thought that the mainstream media is profoundly in Hillary's corner, and they will slaughter Obama when it is politically expediant for them to do so.

Hillary is a scary, scary, scary lady. She does not believe in private property, she believes it's everyones property. She does not believe in the benefits of a free market system, and instead wants to see the country go the way of Sweden, and have health care mandated and provided for all. So when you need a heart transplant in America, you'll have to go somewhere else to get it. Just like they do in Sweden. Though, if Hillary has her way, the people of Sweden will have to go somewhere else too, because as it stands they come here for those types of things.

Sweden's single payer health care system (the model everyone else follows) is crumbling. As some of our leaders try to lead us to a socialized Medical program, Sweden's government is going bankrupt paying for rising medical costs. As an answer to this ... they are putting people on waiting lists for procedures. Need to operate on your foot? Sorry ... no money right now. You'll have to fly to America before they change their system, or wait until 2009 when there is money in the budget.

I don't want to see that happen. Do you?

Anyway ... there are 7 months to Iowa.

This thing is just getting warmed up.
