Wicked
This past weekend was "THE" weekend. It had been planned for months and it was finally here! The 8 of us, I believe, had a very good time. The musical was of course, very good. The music is just lovely. And I thought Glinda, in particular, did a fabulous job.
But to the start of the weekend ... Mom and Dad arrived at 11:30 on Friday, so I took off from work to pick them up. Aunt Carolyn and Grandmother arrived at about 10 o'clock after a little bit of a mixup the day before. They missed their intending stopping point by, oh about 50 miles! So they ended up a lot closer to Dallas than they had planned the first day. So the 6 of us went to the Blue Goose for lunch, which is a Mexican Food place near where we live. I wanted to go here because they have a t-shirt with a blue goose on a motorcycle that I thought my dad would like. He did like it! He bought one!
After lunch we split up ... Dad, Lewis and I went to see Spiderman 3. If you're interested in my thoughts on that ... well that's another post. After the movie we met up with Lewis's parents, Lewis and Elaine, at their hotel. Byt this time it was nearly time for dinner! So we all met at our apartment, chit chatted a bit, and then went to Fudruckers for burgers. Afterwards we went back to our apartment and had Presidential cake from the bakery in Corsicana. So yummy.
The next day was W-Day. :) And since I had all my family here at one time (rarely, rarely, really more like never, happens) I decided to take advantage and kidnap them all and make them look at my new house. So the 8 of us trekked up the new house in Frisco and wandered around it for 30 minutes. There are tons of pictures thanks to my father in law, and I'll post those later.
After THAT ... we went to lunch, rested, and then got ready! We had dinner at Steak and Ale and made our way to the theater. Which, if I'm honest, that theater is no where near what it could be. It's nice ... all the seats seem to have decent views (save distance problems) and there were no obstructions. But I've been spoiled. I saw Phantom of the Opera and Lion King at the Boston Opera house which is newly rennovated within the last 5 years. And it's just beautiful.
But the play was great ... They all did a fantastic job. I love musicals. I could close my eyes and just listen to the orchestra and be completely happy with my experience. I love dressing up, I love giving them my ticket and I even like intermission and fighting the crowds just to see what the program looks like.
I love it. I love going to the theater. Eventually, I will be a season ticket holder. I love going.
And what was best about this was everyone being able to get together. It was awesome having everyone there and sharing that with them. It's those kinds of events that people remember and talk about at Thanksgiving ...
"Remember when we saw Wicked in Dallas? Right before Lewis and Stacy bought their house..."
Thank you so much for attending Mom, Dad, Lewis, Elaine, Carolyn and Grandmother. I had a wonderful time and I really hope you did too. We will definitely have to plan to do something again. I'll keep an eye on what musicals are coming down this way next year!
