I don't really have a lot to say about Tony Blair quitting. He'd been talking about leaving at his ten year mark for the past year and a half, this really isn't all that surprising.
The new PM is suspected to be Gordon Brown. There are a few challengers, but it is anticipated the new leader of the Labour party will be Gordon Brown.
Good luck to Mr. Blair in all his endeavours, I hope he finds more time to spend with his family and the things he loves.
BIGGEST GOVERNMENT EVER!! screams Drudge. What else is new? When you have a bunch of people running our lives that would rather pay for a bridge to nowhere than support our troops, what do you really expect?
But what I really like about this, is that Congress still claims that there is not enough money being collected. Raise taxes on the rich, tax profits on large corporations. Why? The Fed already has record profits.
Maybe we should tax their profits. Can we do that? Can we tax ourselves more for giving more? I bet they'd like that.
Here's an idea, brilliants ... SPEND LESS MONEY. Here's where I would start: Shut off funding for the Big Dig in Boston. For 15 years the tax payers of all states have given money to this project, which I think amounts to nothing more than a job program. Massachusetts doesn't know what to do with the over 5,000 people that the Big Dig employs. So instead, they continue to work on the thing. It's $333M in the red this year, with no end in sight. Who's paying for that? You and me of course. And the longer they leave it, the more it breaks, the more money it costs, and the more people are at risk. Remember the woman that died when a piece of the ceiling fell in on her?
Next ... just cut the pork, just cut out a 1/4 of it. Please? I could go all day about this.
Maybe the above is why the following is true: "People think the Democratic-led Congress is doing just as dreary a job as President Bush, following four months of bitter political standoffs that have seen little progress on Iraq and a host of domestic issues."
Or maybe the reporter has an agenda and blames it solely on Iraq. Yeah ... he does. Every quote he got says the same thing "It's mostly Iraq."
Sigh. God Bless our troops. And I pray they come home to victory parades and champagne and hugs. And those that need help can get it.
You do know that not passing the Supplemental means no money is going to fix that VA Hospital business, right? Just checking.
