In Memory

We traveled to East Kansas on Friday to visit for the long weekend. It was a laid back weekend, with the usual good food, long talks, and several daily trips to Wal-Mart. :)

But May 27th and Memorial Day are dear to our hearts ... as it marks Granddad's 94th birthday, and the loss of my Uncle Jim. The amazing thing about family and life is ... through it all we go on. And we're stronger for it. I miss my Granddad, but know that he lived a long, full, prosperous life, and he was proud of what he had accomplished.

We made ice cream on Sunday, with a hand turned crank. Just like he would have done. It wasn't green, with spiders crawling all over it, and the wooden handle didn't leave me with splinters ... but every time we do something like that, I think we honor part of the heritage he left us. And I think that's a good thing.

When we've been here ten thousand years...bright shining as the sun. We've no less days to sing God's praise...then when we've first begun.

There are more pictures HERE of Emma on her bike, Big Brutus, and general weekend fun.

Happy Memorial Day Everyone. And thank you to the troops who have gone before and those currently serving in harms way. I for one, find you to be the bravest of heroes, and will forever be grateful for the freedom you provide.

Be Strong and Courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. - Joshua 1:9
