France's Problems

I'm not sure if they are problems, really ... but any time you have 592 arrests, 730 vehicles set on fire, and 28 police officers injured ... well I'd say that constitutes a problem. Hattip Drudge.

What are they mad about? Well a conservative politician won their election and is replacing Jaques Chirac on May 17th. Nicolas Sarkozy won 53% of the vote and promises to be a friend to the United States. What this means I don't know. But it's looking like in an effort to bring the France Economy into the new century he's going to get undermine their 35 hour work week. Not sure what that means.

Anyway.

I find it hilarious that the socialist party, the Flower Party, the party of peace ... that's the party that's burning cars and hurting police officers. They didn't get what they wanted, so they're rioting. These are the same idiots that rioted in 2005 about the whole Muslim headdress thing in the schools.

Admittedly, I don't know much about this election. I do know that the woman lost, mostly because she was light on substance and big on "I'm a woman, elect the first woman President of France."

Group think is a disgrace. And she lost because it doesn't work.

The other interesting thing that Boortz pointed out too ... The French vote on the weekends.

What a novel concept. Voting during a time when people are free to vote. Instead of asking all of us that work for a living to take time off to do our patriotic duty. And some of us can't get off work to vote.

So you have all the jobless wonders of the world voting in mass and those contributing to the GNP staying at the office.

I manage to get away, so it is possible. But wouldn't it be nice if we had a 24 hour period to vote on the weekend? Maybe a Saturday? And then the polls would close at 7 A.M. and we'd have to see Katie Couric with 24 hour old mascara? Hehehe. That'd be hillarious. Even a 24 hour voting period on Tuesday. Then I could go after dinner.

I'd volunteer to help if they did that. I'd even take the night shift.

I like the idea of voting on the weekends, I would think this would also help with volunteers! More people would be able to help staff the poling places. However, all that would be on TV the entire weekend would be election news, but with the current primaries being pushed that is all we are hearing about anyway! Just my afternoon babble!
