News ...

Just my thoughts on a few things ...

1 - I hope they start investigating that Howard K. Stern guy in the murder of both Daniel and Ann Nicole. Not to add more coverage to something I'm really quite sick of (there are more important things), but if one guy turns up dead from a strange drug overdose, and then a month or so later someone else turns up dead from a strange drug overdose, and there's millions of dollars involved, you'd think that someone would say what's the common denominator here?

2 - Nancy Pelosi and her trips abroad. Great on her for wanting to expand her horizons. But she isn't the Secretary of State nor is she an ambassador. Her work is in California and in the Senate. Know your role!

3 - Duke Lacrosse case finally dropped. Finally. Now if I were those boys mothers, I'd sue the ever loving something out of the District Attorney's office. I don't know if you can do that ... but I most certainly would try. But than again, they might just want to get on with their lives. If all Nifong loses is his license than THAT is a crime. I have really strong feelings on this issue. Women are given full rights to besmirch the characters of young men without any proof or evidence, and people believe them and lives are ruined. Do you think any of these men, who've been on 60 minutes and traipsed about the media for however many years will ever really recover? There's a chance that at every job interview, someone will recognize their name and judge them based on what they read in the papers. There's no relief from that. They will live with the cloud of this forever and will have to find a way to cope and move on. And that girl, she should be punished as well for lying. If there is any justice, someone should be held accountable. And I think it should rest on her and on the DA.

4 - Katie Couric plagerism thing. Nothing will happen. The media loves her, even if the viewers don't. And it hasn't gotten enough traction in the blogosphere even to get the story anywhere. And as I heard someone wisely say, someone actually had to watch her news show to figure this out. So one of 5 people saw it. :)

5 - Don Imus. I have no love for this man. Never really have. What he said was in terrible taste and was mean. Should he be fired for it? No. Free speech. Technically he didn't infringe on any FCC rules and frankly Howard Stern has said worse on public radio. Imus's biggest mistake is laying his head across the alter of Al Sharpton, who never saw a race issue he didn't like to exploit. Because he keeps apologizing like a guilty baby, the animals around the watering hole are going to sense weakness and go for his throat. If he makes it out of this I'll be surprised. But what should really happen is a boycott. Don't like his words? Don't watch or listen to his show. Though honestly, I don't think the people that are outraged heard the originally radio broadcast anyway. I'm sick of this story. Move on.

To end my round up of salacious news fit to print ... I'm closing with a few things. There's only 100 days left till Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows! I'm so excited!! I've been re-reading all my Harry Potter books in an effort to pysche myself up. And I followed Meryl's lead and I have a HP song set as my ringtone! My the next 100 days fly by! As I'm sure they will in standard fashion ...

And finally ... I love bears.
