I promise to eventually move on ...

But CNN is running this crap in their entertainment section (not as an editorial I might add) and I just have to make a few comments.
Cultural critic, author and columnist Stanley Crouch, a longtime foe of rap music, suspected the Imus ordeal would galvanize young black women across the country. He said a key moment was when the Rutgers players appeared at a news conference this week -- poised, dignified and defying stereotypes seen in rap videos and "dumb" comedies.

"When the public got to see these women, what they were, it was kind of shocking," Crouch said. "It made accepting the denigration not quite as comfortable as it had been for far too long."

I wasn't "shocked" by the image of the Rutgers basketball team. They looked like female college athletes. It's crap like this that really just gets me. It's people who are "shocked" they look like normal women.

I'm more "shocked" by the crassness of women portrayed on television geared towards young men than I am by the photos of the Rutgers athletes. Truly what was that guy expecting? Or probably more likely, what the heck was the writer thinking for putting that quote in their like that? I bet there was more context.
