Dear Rosie
Dear Rosie,
I don't watch your program. I work for a living, as I do not have children that need me to care for them at home. So when your show is on television (I don't know when that is) I am typing emails or sitting in meetings or otherwise contributing to the GNP.
I do hear tidbits on my internet sites about your fiascos. You say crazy things and people react and I guess ABC likes it because you're still there. I bet Barbara Walters feels like she's lost control of her show. She has you know ... because she can't fire you without making a lot of people (your supporters) incredibly angry and screaming biased.
Most times I think you're just a crazy person who's just started taking herself too seriously. Or maybe not even that far ... like you get on a roll with a certain topic and speak without thinking. Or something.
But I wanted to clarify your recent conversations (last week) that are making a big mess today, for the few readers I enjoy.
I did google it. I came up with these:
There are of course, others. But you can use google as well as I. The Gult of Tonkin incident occured on August 2nd and August 4th 1964. Two American Destroyers, USS Maddox and Turner Joy were on "aggressive intelligence gathering manuevers." On August 2nd, they were torpedoed by the North Veitnamese. The second attack, on August 4th, is the one to which I believe, Madame Rosie, you are refering to. The second attack, it is alleged, never took place, though LBJ said that it did, and it was used to justify the United States going to war with Vietnam. Effectively, the Tonkin Incident is what started the Vietnam War.
So, what you're saying, Ms. Rosie, is that the British soldiers really weren't kidnapped? Or that they were told to allow themselves to be kidnapped in order to create a tense and war starting situation?
Interesting ... does Britian really want to start a war with Iran? Do they have that kind of manpower and capability? The answer to that is no ... but let's assume that the reason Britian "let" their men and women (woman, we'll be fair) be kidnapped is because the US told them too. And the US wants to use this situation to start a war, not Britian.
Okay ... moving to an article on the hostage situation ...
I almost wonder, with my conspiracy hat on now Ro, if the Iranians didn't kidnapp the British (who were safely within their rights performing a UN mission in Iraqi waters) illegally, in an attempt to blackmail the United States and the Coalition forces into giving up those 5 Iranians we are holding. I mean, as far as conspiracy theories go ... I think that one's pretty good. Who do we know to be bad guys that are intent to blow up as much of the world as they can as they attempt to convert the world to Islam? Well that'd be the Iranian leadership. And who do we know that has said the Holocaust never happened and that the "zionists" should be wiped off the planet? Well that would be the President of Iran doing that again.
So I wonder, Ro, if maybe you've got a little bit of partisan blinders on. I know you don't like current US policy or the current US President, as is your right. But what do you have against the British Military? Do you really think those people wanted to be held against their will? And really ... can secrets like that be held for long?
I don't have any answers to any of these questions. Which, I'm just guessing here, since you, Ms. Rosie, don't have a secret security clearance either, you don't know anything must about this situation accept what CNN Headline News is telling you. And while I know you performers hate to be told this ... please just Shut Up and Sing. Or in your case ... since you really can't shut up since it's your job to talk and all ... maybe try and use your head before you speak. To quote a movie you were in: "That's that lump 3 feet above your behind."
PS - in regards to your comments about 9/11 and conspiracy theories. I just don't have time for you to justify what evil human beings did. 12 hijackers flew jet planes full of jet fuel into two of our nations tallest and most prominent buildings in an attempt to weaken the United States government. That is what happened. And you show no patriotism at all in blaming the death of 3,000 people not on the people that murdered them, but on the country that was also victimized that day. You are no patriot, don't hide behind "asking questions is American" garbage. Yes it is American and human to ask questions. But a person of your stature and influence gives up the right to speak so carelessly, as you are a public figure and are therefore more responsible for the things that you say. So act like it. And your stupid blog today is stupid. You said it, stand behind it or apologize. And the video from JibJab on "what is news" is driven by people like you. You are part of the problem.
Have a great day!

"There were 15 British sailors and marines who apparently went in to
Iranian waters and they were seized by the Iranians," O'Donnell said on "The
View" on March 26. "I have one thing to say: Gulf of Tonkin. Google it."
O'Donnell was referencing an alleged pair of attacks by North Vietnam naval
forces against two U.S. ships in 1964. After the Gulf of Tonkin incident,
Congress passed the Southeast Asia Resolution, which granted then-President
Johnson the authority to assist countries whose governments were threatened by
communism. That eventually led to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War.
I did google it. I came up with these:

"Mr McCormack declined to comment on the status of the five Iranians held by US forces in Iraq. Washington says they were detained because they were providing improvised explosives to Iraqi militants for use against US troops and Iraqis.
"Asked about reports that Iraq was pushing for the United States to release the five Iranians in Baghdad in the hope of encouraging Iran to free the 15 British sailors and Marines held by Iran, Mr McCormack said the cases were not linked."
