80 Days and Counting

The United States Senate has sunk to a new low.

For 80 days the supplemental giving much needed funding to the United States Army has sat in limbo while punks like Harry Reid and Robert Byrd aggrandize from their pulpits. Rest assured, there is no venom in their bite. As long as checks and balances are in place they can not run their agenda straight through. Their defeatist agenda, I might add.

Their contempt for the military is clear. Their overall thoughtlessness to the importance of their role in government is staggering.

They don't want to fund the war because it's too expensive ... so they put in a date for surrender (mark your calendars, Iraqi's ... that's the same day Al Qaeda and Iran will permanentely own you) and then add ... that's right add ... $20 billion - billion - in pork.

And do we think the timing is deliberate? I do. Next week marks the date of that terrible exorcise in bad PR ... the day President Bush stood on an aircraft carrier infront of a sign that said "Mission Accomplished." I have no doubt that military men and women everywhere were delighted to see it ... but civilians with no scope or concept or perspective for such things see a punch line. They have no method or way of distinguishing between operations. To them it's all one big altercation, no matter which military units are involved.

So Reid and his cronies play politics with our military and their money. Reid has no plan, rest assured. This bill has absolutely no chance of passing and a blessed thing that is. A date of withdrawal is a death sentence to all the Iraqis. You may or may not agree with what took us to war ... but we're there and we can not allow Iraqi to fall into the hands of terrorists and / or Iran and Syria. It's not in anyone's best interests. Least of all ours. Even Senator McCain said that if we leave Iraq on a withdrawal date, the enemy has said they will follow us home.

This bill is as worthless as the nonbinding resolutions that came before it. It's like asking someone if they want a piece of chocolate cake because you don't want to seem greedy eating it all, knowing full well that that person is allergic to chocolate cake. Reid is just putting on a face to appease the moonbats and the voters who want us out of Iraq and Bush run down and defeated on every course. It's shameful that American interests are used so divisively and that we can not even unite under the cause of giving the Army money to buy supplies.

Repulsive.

Also ... CNN has nothing on the bull market and the Stocks record high yesterday. In fact, in the teasers in the money section they talk about "Here comes $4 a gallon." Talk about the politics of fear. If you go to the business section home page there's this headline: Dow tiptoes higher post-record. Does that sound like good news? Not to me ... but read further down in the article:
Treasury prices slipped, raising the corresponding yields. The dollar rose versus the yen and euro. Gold prices slumped in response to the jump in the dollar. Oil prices declined.

Now that is good news. Wouldn't know it though if you asked CNN. And everything is closing up. They just can't bear to report on news that could be misconstrued as good news for the administration. Nothing on the new report that says the jobless rating is down either. Shameful.
