Imam??
Who is Husham al-Husainy (Washington Times)? He is an Imam from Karbalaa Islamic Education Center, a Shi'ite mosque in Dearborn, Michigan.
From the NY Post and Debbie Schlussel:
Who is he in relation to us?Al-Husainy heads the Karbalaa Islamic Education Center mosque in Dearborn, Mich., one of the largest Shiite mosques in North America. He is an open admirer of the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini - under whose rule Americans were held hostage for 444 days.
During last summer's Israel-Hezbollah war, al-Husainy led rallies in Dearborn in support of the Lebanese terrorist group. Protesters displayed swastikas as well as anti-American and anti-Semitic posters.I attended one rally, at Dearborn's Bint Jebail Cultural Center - named for the stronghold in south Lebanon from which Hezbollah rockets rained on Israel. Al-Husainy was among several who delivered hate-filled, anti-American rhetoric. He cheered as others called for the hastened destruction of the Jews.
He was the leader of the innvocation at the Democrats "Winter Meeting," on Friday, February 2nd. Here is the video via Michelle Malkin and Hot Air. I had seen this on her site earlier, but David Limbaugh's article today sparked the blog.
But I do believe it is noteworthy that many secular liberal Democrats selectively decry the Christians' exclusive truth claims as intolerant and exclusive, while giving the proponents of other religions and worldviews a pass. And they wonder why they have difficulty attracting "values voters."
That is what I've said too. Why is it that Muslim's can repeatedly oppress women, etc. in the name of their religion, but I can't even say Merry Christmas for fear of offending someone? But this is the truth of the matter:
Can you imagine what kind of hell there would be to pay if a Christian pastor were invited to a Republican meeting and delivered a similarly pointed spiritual and political prayer? We'd hear about it for weeks. And it would be called a clash between church and state, and it would be seen as Republican's supporting only Christianity.
Cal Thomas has some interesting points on the material in the Imam's prayer.
Between this and Presidential hopeful John Edwards and his cuss word loving bloggers ... I am beginning to wonder who exactly the Democrats are trying to garner support from. And if they are familiar with the phrase "Judged by the company you keep," as David Limbaugh's article is titled.
