Golden Talk
I was also pleased that Gray's didn't win. Mostly that Izzie and Meredith didn't win. Okay Izzie could have won, I've always liked that actress. But tell me, what's so hard about Meredith's part? She's playing a nimcompoop. The best part of that show is Christina and Burke and the second best part is George and Callie. I'm sick to death of Doctors dating interns (except Christina and Burke) and if they do that with Alex and Dr. Montgomery I'm going to think the writers are all out of ideas and I'll predict the show will be canceled mid season next year.
Send all hate mail to bellsforstacy@hotmail.com :) Maybe not cancelled ... :)
Anywhoo ... but I was also pleased as punch that Jennifer Hudson won for Dream girls. Why? Because she used to sing on cruise ships, and last night she was at the Golden Globes. I love, love, love American dream stories and people expressing just joy and excitement when good things happen. It's why I watch American Idol ... I love watching the people jump up and down when they get to go to Hollywood.
And Beyonce ... she really shouldn't have smirked like that after Meryl Streep won. It's Meryl Streep. You ... measley pop singer ... are not going to beet Meryl Streep. She's an icon ... a premier actor. You think the establishment is going to give you a Golden Globe over her?? Come on now, let's be reasonable.
And further more, Beyonce just kind of assumed it'd be given to her. Kind of like Jamie Foxx assumed last year (or the year before?), only he got it ... because he really was that good. Beyonce (I've heard) is bland and blech. Not that hot. And I've heard that Hudson should have been up for the best actress role and Beyonce the supporting. Maybe if they had done that ... Beyonce might have won.
I'm double glad Beyonce didn't win after reading this article: Emphasis mine.
"I knew that the character that I played wasn't the star," Knowles says. "Deena wasn't the underdog. She didn't have the struggle and the pain and the dramatic scenes that Effie had, and I was fine with that.
"I'm already a star. I already have nine Grammys. Everyone knows I can sing. I did this because I wanted people to know that I can act and I can play someone so different from myself."
Knowles admits she would have loved to have sung Effie's show-stopping number. After all, it's a song that almost single-handedly won a Tony for Jennifer Holliday in the original 1981 production of the show.
"I wish I could've gained 20 pounds and played Effie," Knowles says, laughing. "I absolutely would have gained the weight, but Bill didn't even believe that I could be Deena. So imagine if I would've said, 'Bill, I want to be Effie'."
It's not all that bad ... but I just don't like it. She should have just said "No we aren't fighting, I loved playing Deena," and left it at that. Instead, she made a weight comment from which people are still upset about. Which is just stupid. And yes, she can sing. But Jennifer Hudson made Opera cry.
***Editors Note***
This post was originally titled Grammy Talk ... but we all knew I meant Golden Globes ... right? I was just testing you. :) I've edited it now and removed all mention of Grammies and replaced with the appropriate, more acting geared, award. :) Cheers!
