Global Warming
I don't usually like talking about this issue. It's the "new" issue. It's envogue. It's hip. People (think) they can tell the weather's different. And the politicians use it as a scare tactic and yet another issue to divide us on.
Kyoto I have talked about before. Everyone blames Bush for not signing Kyoto. But Congress refused to sign it first and before that President Clinton refused to sign it. Why? Because Kyoto is bad for American progress more than it helps anything. Really all it is, is an attempt to slow down the American economy so that developing nations have a chance to emerge, and so that current nations (Achem, France) can be more politically powerful on the developing world stage.
What I wanted to do today was post headlines and links, just so you can see the differing news out there. And maybe, just maybe, if you've been submerged in Global Warming is America's fault and we aren't doing anything about it, you might find something here that might just open your mind a smidge to the possibility that maybe, just maybe 50 years of research (which is all we have) is not enough to say that the billion year old planet's temperature change is completely our fault.

There's a ton more like this ... just go to google news and type in "Global Warming." There's 100 web pages of articles. All from today.
I'm a bit of a hedger on this particular issue. Do I think CO2 gases are bad? Yes. Do I think human beings are effecting huge change on a planet that's been in existence for billions of years? Based on 50 years of research, or at best, 147 years of research? Umm...not quite as convinced on that. The planet has been through an ice age before, do we really think it's not going to do that again at some point? Do we really think the temperature here can't be effected by events happening in the solar system? A warmer sun for instance?
And what about sheer volume? Why are these global warming activists the only voice we hear? Why do they want to silence those that oppose them? Why is it I hear whispers about the sun getting hotter, but then, loud and blaring from the headlines, other experts say we have 10 years to fix things otherwise.... We. Are. All. Going. To. Die.
Last year they said it would be the worst year on record for Hurricanes. ["For the 2006 Hurricane Season-which traditionally runs from June 1 through November 30-Bastardi and his team are forecasting that six tropical cyclones will make landfall in the U.S. Five of these landfalling storms are likely to be hurricanes, with three being major hurricanes of Category 3 or greater"]. Now they say that 2006 was the warmest in so many odd years ... Then there was that Newsweek cover years back (that I can't find on the internet) that said the earth was actually freezing ...
I agree with limiting CO2 emmissions and protecting the enviornment. But I don't need a scare tactic to motivate me.

Between all the bruh-haha is the truth. I just wish Al Gore and all the Hollywood types that want "something" done about Global Warming would quit flying around the world in private jets and driving in SUVs. That goes for Politicians too.
