Do NOT play it again Sam...
Please say it ain't so. Of all the Republicans that could take the Senate Minority Whip job ... he is the one I like the least. And I don't know anything about Senator McConnell. But he was voted in unanimously. I don't know if that even means anything.
What I do know is that Trent Lott is a bigot who every female intern on the hill knew was a yucky person you stayed away from. I saw him on the Hill more than any other Senator (including my own) and he was ... creepy. Granted, one girls opinion. But I got a bad vibe from him. And Hillary, but that's because she's just so funny looking in person. And she has a reputation for being mean to her staff. Either way ...
I think this quote from PostWatch via Michelle Malkin is hillarious:
Haha. They certainly are not going back to their base in an effort to regain voter support. But hey, it's early yet. They're all still smartin'.
But on to other leadership races ... Congressman Murtha made me nauseaus way before Nancy Pelosi decided he was her pony for the race for House Majority Leader. The ethics questions that are coming out now just add sticks to a big pile of reasons he's unfit to even be in office let alone hold a leadership position. But hey, people said the same of Tommy D and he held the position for several years. Speaking of... From The Hill (linked above)...
Hmm, things like that are what got Delay called the Hammer. What's Pelosi going to be called for dictating who her colleagues vote for? A leader evidently. Let's see if she locks the undecideds out of the chamber come voting time ... that'd be hillarious. But evidently, according to the article, some Dems are put off by her bullying. What do I think? This is only the beginning of the bullying.
What else is going on in the world today? Oh yeah ... Bob Knight over at Texas Tech (Go Raiders!) got in trouble for chucking a kid under his chin because the brat wasn't paying attention. What do I think? As an Alumni of a school that had 3 wins in its basketball season before Bobby and made it to the NIT the year after, I think he's a winning coach (he's 8 wins away from having the winningest record of any coach.)
And what's this garbage ... Bobby Knight Slaps Player, Texas Tech Wins. He didn't slap him. I saw the video. I hate the press.
Either way - bottom line - the parents aren't upset, the kid isn't upset, the school isn't upset. No harm, no foul. And I'd let my kid play for him. Coaches are like mini-parents, den mothers / fathers. They are leaders that are helping to create the adults these children are going to become. They are entitled to a small amount of disciplinary actions. It takes a village right?
That having been said ... Knight is a lightning rod, and a double standard exists because of it. He has to be more careful. So he, Bobby Knight, should not have done it. But if my coach did it I'd put my arm around him and say "Kids gotta learn to pay attention."
But that's just me. And the Republicans are stupid for putting Trent Lott back in a power position. The people voted for new blood. He is most certainly not new blood. Why not Senator Graham or somebody like that?

Combined with other inspiring actions like the Sen. Mel Amnesty Martinez becoming the head of the Republican National Committee, it appears the GOP has decided it needs some time to recover from the burdens of leadership. Say, ten or fifteen years.

“She will ensure that they [the Murtha camp] wins. This is hardball politics … We are entering an era where when the Speaker instructs you what to do, you do it,” he said. “Yes, she’s making calls to people. She is contacting people and letting them know that it’s an unequivocal letter.”
