Do you know what's on your ballot?
Because I don't.
I'm trying to find all that out. Truth be told, I didn't know who my congressman was until ten minutes ago. It's Pete Sessions. I've heard a lot about him regarding the redistricting efforts of Tom Delay. He's okay. He won last time with 54% of the vote. The two challengers, a Democrat and a Libertarian, got 44% and 1.7% respectively. I don't see a big challenge for his seat. Plus, he does Suburban Dallas. So there ya go. He's raised a little over $1.4M and his challenger has roughly $321,000. Sessions has more than that in liquid cash right now, according to this. We will never have a so-called "common man" federal elected official because common people don't have that kind of money that is allocated for things like, oh I don't know, their child's tuition. Sure honey, I'd love to run, but do you want to take a second and third mortgage out against the house? And break into Junior's college fund? I don't see that conversation going well for John and Jane Commonman.
Anyway. So what's on your ballot? I know Texas is voting for Governor, but that's a waste of time because all the challengers to Rick Perry are clowns. I wish I'd been smarter. I'd have voted in the primaries. Next time.
Repeat after me: How do we keep our freedoms children? By exercising them.
Alright, more information all the time.
Senator Florence Shapiro is District 8 (my districts) State Senator. Gotta find out what that ladies all about. She went to UT, that's kind of lame. :) I'm kidding. I can't find a platform. I hate that.
Congressman Jim Jackson is District 115 (my districts) State Congressman. His website isn't helpful for information about him and his beliefs. Says alot about his district though. 65% of them all own their own homes and over 40% of them make more than $50,000 a year.
I have to say I'm disappointed with Texas's use of the internet in this 2006 election year. I should be able to find anything I'm looking for, which is "what's on the ballot?"
Perhaps upon further investigation I will be able to discover more. I don't have time right now.
Remember: Let nothing stop the independent, intrepid American spirit! Vote!
