A Grateful Citizen Thanks you, UK, for your Dilligence
I do not even want to think about what these terrorists and their plans for ten planes would have done to our country and our citizens. 21 suspects have been arrested in conjunction with this plot and flights from the UK to the US have been brought to a hault.
They were planning on blowing up 6-10 planes with liquid explosives. They had liquids that when combined together and detonated with a pocket watch would destroy the planes entirely, killing everyone involved. Due to the nature of this attack, and the seriousness of it, the UK is not allowing any carry on bags. Only wallets and passports in see through bags. They hope it is only needed for a short while.
If this keeps up we won't be allowed carry on luggage. Flying will become unbareable. I don't disagree with the measures being taken, though. In the US the FFA or whoever the TSA I guess have now said you can't carry any liquids on a plane. Not a coke, not a pepsi, not a coffee, not a bottle of lotion, no toothpaste. I appreciate these measures. I'd rather sacrifice a coke during this time than sacrifice my life.
Yikes. I'm so glad they work so hard. President Bush says we are safer than we were before 9/11. I'd have to agree, based on first blush facts. They've been foiled. And what is the connection between this attack and the Eyptian students that disappeared here in the last few days? Was there a US part of the plan? A contingent to spread more chaos and death?
And look at the brilliant work of the US Authorities on Monday. Wow.
They had been tracking this situation for a long time. Gosh. I am so, so grateful for the work these people do. The system may be inconvient for a time, but I truly think that we are safer in the air than we were pre-9/11. Maybe I'm foolish.
Just a side note - The Huffington Post (I know why do I even bother - because we must know what all sides are saying) has a link on the right had side to CNN. How worthless. Do you ever see Drudge linking to Fox? Not if he can help it. It's lazy blogging to post one link to CNN with the wealth of information that's out about this topic.
Anyway - want to see what the moonbats are saying about this?
I need some hair gel and bottled water
Does he know he miss-spelled that? And does he know that the terrorists did try this exact plan in 1995 called Operation Oplan Bojinka? Only it failed? Some people have to complain about something I guess.
And then this brilliant guy: Al Qaeda's Predictable Return to the Stage: You Can Thank Dick Cheney . I don't really get it. But here's a quote:
Hmm...I almost wish we could have two worlds, one without Bush and Staff and one with Gore. And then we'd see how many terrorist attacks we'd have. And how many of them we'd just appease. It's like terrorism sprang too life because of the current administration? Nope. It's just getting more attention because they are emboldened with their past successes. From Wikipedia:
Amazing. Terrorism's been on the rise since 1968? But - golly gee - President Bush hasn't been around that long, has he? Could it be this is a problem that he's not causing, but that he's trying to actively solve?
Moonbats and partisans would have you believe that terrorism is being driven and caused by President Bush. I would disagree. I would say terrorists are driven regardless of who the President of the United States is. They hate "zionists" regardless of who their leaders are or what their leaders will do to them. They do not value their lives, the lives of their citizens, or any of the wordly goods that Westerners do. They value entry to heaven, and they've been lambasted by zealouts for the last 40 years that blowing up buses, airplanes, etc. will gain them access to heaven and its plethra of virgins.
I am so appreciate to those that are working to keep us safe. I don't even want to think about what would have happened, had these people not been actively tracking down the bad guys.
The wins are adding up in our favor. Don't let anyone tell you different. What was done today saved lives. Probably thousands of lives. God Bless those that saved them. And may God keep our country safe.

The planes would then have been blown up in flight. Five US cities are thought to have been among the targets, including New York, Washington and Los Angeles.

And look at the brilliant work of the US Authorities on Monday. Wow.
A London-to-Boston flight was called back to Heathrow Airport on Monday after U.S. authorities discovered a passenger's name was on their "no-fly" list, officials said. Four passengers were being questioned by border control officers.

What good does banning that stuff do now? The bad guys know they've been outed. So they're not going to try and sneak the stuff on the plane. They're evil, but not stoopid.

And then this brilliant guy: Al Qaeda's Predictable Return to the Stage: You Can Thank Dick Cheney . I don't really get it. But here's a quote:
Many of us have been predicting that the real al Qaeda--not its Connectictut sympathizers--would get back into the game with a vengeance in response to Hezbollah's inadvertent successes in Lebanon. I say inadvertent because there's no evidence that Hezbollah wanted or anticipated the full-scale confrontation with the IDF that has been unfolding to Hezbollah's obvious advantage.Again, unless Cheney and Co. are working with the IDF or Lebanon and lobbing bombs, I don't see a direct way to blame them. But I'll keep reading.
Of course, "Edgar" Cheney is no dummy, or at least not in the obvious ways that his "Charlie" is deficient. Cheney would doubtless argue that al Qaeda's resurgence merely proves that he and his claque have been right about the need to support Israel's moves in Lebanon to take out or take down Hezbollah in a decisive way.

It's like terrorism sprang too life because of the current administration? Nope. It's just getting more attention because they are emboldened with their past successes. From Wikipedia:
Since 1968, the U.S. State Department has tallied deaths due to terrorism. In 1985, it counted 816 deaths, the highest annual toll until then. The deaths decreased since the late 1980s, then rose to 3,295 in 2001, mainly as a result of the September 11, 2001 attacks, which took about 3 thousand lives. In 2003, more than 1,000 people died as a result of terrorist acts. Many of these deaths resulted from suicide bombings in Chechnya, Iraq, India and Israel. It does not tally victims of state terrorism.
