We must take notice
On the front page of newspapers over the weekend, I expected to see "Riots Spread Over Cartoons," or "Threat to Free Speech in Western Europe" or something. Anything. But there was nothing. We are at a critical point here, and we are turning away. Rather than face the problems that are affecting our global culture, we are turning our backs, and letting our allies across the ocean take the heat alone.
This is no way to treat our friends.
If anything, this cartoon mess has shown the world the true faces of Islam. And they are not as peaceful as we had been led to believe. I'm disgusted by the signs calling for another 9/11, and if they can riot over cartoons, I feel that since I'm very affronted by their signs, I should be allowed to torch a few Mosques. But I wont. Why? Because I am a civilized individual who knows that their signs and their rehtoric are only evidence of their own stupidity and, mainly, lack of employment. Get jobs. Become educated. Especially you women I see in these pictures.
This Denmark thing has blown up into a crisis, and I don't see the leaders of the world posting opposition papers or giving speeches or making comments or speaking out against the ridiculous violent temper tantrums that these men and women are having. As a child, we were punished for acting out in violent ways. Yet as adults, bad behavior is allowed if you can say that someone offended you. Ridiculous.
I'll be following this, and I will be posting articles written by people smarter than I here. I hope that you will read them. I am a lowly twenty something with little education and with a slow mind at times. But I know that the threat to Liberty in Europe is real, and that while we sit silent, our own Freedom of Speech becomes threatened. "If you aren't with us, you are against us." If we are not standing with the Danish, we are standing with those that are rioting. And I for one, will not stand with anyone or call anyone my friend that calls for the slaughter of innocents over a few words and a crayon. I will not stand with those that call for another 9/11. I really hope our government wont either.
