Christmas Can't Be Very Far Away...
"We'll buy the biggest tree this year and trim it to the top, and spend a whole lot more than what we got ... but so what? Come next spring I know we'll be ready for the sunshine, but right now throwing snowballs at each other is such a fun time! Kids will think we're crazy for a while and that's okay, Christmas can't be very far away."
I just wanted to point out that Christmas was coming! I've got my Christmas music ready! And in the privacy of my own ears I am listening to Come All Ye Faithful! So all of you "No Christmas Music until after Thanksgiving" people go away, it's not hurting you for me to listen. :)
I love this time of year. Buying gifts for other people and spending money left and right and not really worrying about it because its all for other people and its okay because you aren't being selfish. Its for other people. I love that my mom cheats and looks at every present Dad gives her. I like that Megan knows asks for specific presents and is deeply affronted if on Christmas morning her requests have not been answered. I also like not knowing what Lewis will give me ... and I like knowing exactly what I'm going to get him.
I love the music, I love the decorations, I love the television shows and the commercials. It is the most wonderful time of year. We're spoiled, we really are. Because every year I have a wonderful holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Years and its not that way for most. We should all count our blessings, and be grateful we have some place to go and family that loves us.
Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday, with all the food and the family. Christmas Day itself sometimes lends itself to stress ... but Thanksgiving is just fun.
At any rate -- this year I say we just remember all of our blessings, and be grateful that we have each other. We are all healthy, we all have enough food to eat and have warm places to live. Small Joys are often my most cherished. Harry Potter, Christmas music, Extreme Make-over Home Edition, cooking dinner that someone, who shall remain nameless, likes. Little things. Small Joys.
I'm rambling ... Christmas can't be very far away ....
