Rita
Lew's parents and family are evacuating the area. Rita is a huge storm. I am apprehensive but I know they will be out of harms way which is good. They are calling for worst case scenarios. Or I mean, they are saying this is the worst case scenario for Houston. I've spent limited time in Houston, but it's my fiancee's home. And his family -- our family -- is there, or really they are probably stuck on a highway somewhere between there and Dallas. Please, don't let Houston be ravaged by this.
I know that the response in Texas has been far greater than the response was in Lousiana. Why is that? Is it because we saw Katrina and are taking no chances with Rita? If Rita had been first would Houston have evacuated so easily? What would have been different if both instances existed in a vaccum?
I have to believe that we are taking this seriously because of Katrina, but also that Texas is a well prepared state. Houston and Galveston are no strangers to hurricanes. Though neither was LA. I wish everyone well and God speed on their way out of town. Lord willing we can all weather this storm.
