First Howard now Cindy
No one voted for you Cindy. And while yes, many, many people agree and love and follow you, many of those same people support, vote and respect John McCain. Play nice and debate nice. Otherwise step off your soapbox and go back home and try and make good choices.
A few days ago Cindy was on the Daily Kos (a blog) and posted this:
"I am watching CNN and it is 100 percent rita...even though it is a little wind and a little rain...it is bad, but there are other things going on in this country today...and in the world!!!!"
Seems Cindy thinks the world should focus on her and what she's saying and nothing else. When someone call her on it, Cindy said this titled "I am sorry":
"when i was watching cnn this morning, that's what it was...i know it was much worse earlier and it was devastating, i didn't make myself clear and i apologize.
i also know that the media will cover anything else besides the war."
The same person that called her on it initially pointed out to Cindy that all of the posts are time stamped, and that at the time of Cindy's first cry baby post, the hurricane still had fierce winds and was destroying much of Texas.
And as many of the posters go on to point out, this only proves that Cindy is what many of us feared she was, a sad mother, who is using her son's death to promote her own agenda. Her son re-enlisted and went to help his comrades of his own accord. And apparently against his mothers wishes. Now she is taking back control and using her son's memory to promote what she wants, not what he wanted. I am not in anyway intimating that her son wished to die, I am saying that he wanted to serve his country, or more correctly probably, he wanted to serve with his friends.
But many of the posters at this Daily Kos go on to justify what Cindy was saying. Now, do I think Cindy should be lambasted for a two line post at a blog site? No. She was just talking. People talk. Let her talk. Am I sad that she is not in the news any more? Not in the least. She's a political puppet that the left wing groups are using to put a spin on the war to meet their goals. But the people that are justifying her statement say that the media would rather cover anything than the Iraq war. Actually, they call it the illegal occupation. And they said the right wing has not made a clear argument against Cindy. They obviously haven't been paying attention. Every news station everywhere leads with the death toll in Iraq. Its part of the plan. Its part of the template. It may not be the first story, but it is certainly among the first three. And if they are complaining about 24-hour Rita ... Well then they are at home in the middle of the day watching cable outlets. Evening news isn't all Rita all the time, they can't be. But 24-hour cable channels have a different role then the magazine shows.
I'm tired of Cindy. She's a crazy person, just like Dean and the other Dem talking heads. No one is filming the protest because they are afraid of showing the anti-war movement as it is, crazy. They'd rather mention it briefly, without photos, and use adjectives like "powerful movement, proud Sheehan, mother of the fallen Casey Sheehan who died last year in Iraq." They never hesistate to remind the public of that because of the images it brings to mind. I haven't heard from one friend of Casey's, have you? Wonder what they think. And the Media hasn't interviewed any of his other relatives. Wonder why?
Because Cindy Sheehan doesn't speak for them.
But the reason the media isn't showing the protest is because the protestors are revealing themselves in a bad light. Its the same reason they won't show the protestors that are outside of Walter Reed Hospital every Friday. It makes the anti-war movement look like it is: crazy, and outside the main stream.
And the media has only a few goals in all of this: to bring down public support for the war and to bring down public support for the President. They are ving for the midterm elections. A weakened President means a weakened party. And they, the media, desperately wants to get some Dems back in Washington. I kid you not. They will show anything, say anything, do anything to show President Bush in a negative light and to show the Anti-war movement as peaceful, thoughtful, curageous, not to mention right, people. And showing the protests themselves doesn't accomplish that. Because Average Joe American doesn't have time to waste sitting outside of the White House, and doesn't really think people that do are very much like him.
